Raw Nerve Promotions - "The Genesis Behind": well worthy of your attention
Some very swish artwork is featured on the cover of this Dead Emotions CD, the second I’ve received from them.
And how impressive this opening song is, mixing the darkness and melancholy of old Anathema and My Dying Bride but with a more death thrash approach, with hints of a progressive nature, lots of rhythms changes within riffs and delivered smoothly. Good strong, gravel filled vocals combine with the occasional spoken word verse which feature to amazing effect throughout.

Dead Emotions have some good echoing melodies and a very well produced guitar dominating sound. Highlight ‘Cluster’ is a quality, stomping song with parts that remind of old Arch Enemy, riffs from Chimaira’s last, more metallic effort ‘The Impossibility of Reason’, Hypocrisy, Iniquity and a little of the metalcore bands Caliban and Deformity.

There is definitely plenty to appeal to fans of both full on death metal and the heavier side of metalcore as well, despite probably not really being aimed at that scene. Think towards Beyond the Buried and Me style for a good pointer.

‘Uncontrolled’ thrashes away in fine style, with hints of Vader and Malevolent Creation, and something a little less violent but darker during the slow chugging and sickening growl combination.

Strong songs here well worthy of your attention from German five piece Dead Emotions.
